Day 1524: MOMA, SOHO & Little Italy, Oh my!

"heatwave", junk mail collage

Back to the NYC Mother-Daughter trip of a lifetime.
I gave you a break in case you overdosed on buildings?
Saturday was day 4 and we started at MOMA!

six floors of galleries of art ...

installations, multi-media, film

 & art ...

and more art!

 We saw it all ...

& did some damage at the MOMA gift store.
Then a cab to SOHO!

Brunch, sightseeing and shopping ...

I love graffiti & street art ...

and architecture ...

Cheryl is a huge Prince fan,
note the shirt,
so we had to get a picture
on Prince Street in Soho.

And, we were in Little Italy for the ...
89th Annual Feast of San Gennaro, noted as
NYC's oldest, biggest & best religious street festival.
Streets closed for food booths, vendors, people & dogs!

A walking marathon, loving the buildings but
WW said this Mom hit a wall, so parked us at a cafe for sorbet.

More buildings, walking & shopping ...

We went in this terrific upscale antique store ...

I fell in love with the huge & very worn carnival game,
the 5 foot wide, $45,000 chandelier was not bad either.
The grouchy owner needed a vacation. More walking.

While on our walk to a different restaurant,
we passed Dos Caminos and voted for Mexican food.

Smart move. Great choice & so ready to sit.

A delicious & leisurely meal in Soho.
We stopped at the famous Magnolia Bakery for extra calories!

Back in our hotel rooms for the evening ...

Hilton Midtown Manhattan

we learned of the nearby Chelsea bombing.
The NYC mayor, fire & police chiefs were impressive
on tv, on top of the situation, and such pros.
We all received texts & e-mails checking on us.
Readying for our last day of this magical trip on Sunday.

And still ...

A smile for Tuesday ...
