Calling plumbers, working on taxes & yucky stuff like that,
was brightened by meeting Valerie for lunch. We met at ...

416 E 1st St , Tustin, CA 92780

a humble little local place with good food.

We both had the #3 lunch special ...
salad, naan, cherry rice, grilled tomato and
the best chicken I have ever tasted, with lime.

A really good friend & good food ... win, win!

You probably know, 2018 is the Year of the Dog!
I was reminded by these Japanese artist's new years cards ...
there's something for almost every taste.
I thought you might enjoy them too?

1.

Illustrator and designer Mayo’s retro-inspired New Year’s card

2.
Illustrator Senraku created this colorful version of a komainu, the lion-dog guardian deity

3.
Simple but cute. From Pompette, the creators of Nihongo Flashcard

4.

Created by the designer Mikiji, this card folds up to resemble a minimal dog. Do you see it?

5.

The Tokyo-based photographer Irwin Wong and his team always creates over-the-top movie-poster-inspired cards.

6.

MUJI surprised with a lovely, minimal illustration of a dog wagging its tail

7.

a calming and peaceful illustration from sakki

8.
designer/artist Yasuhiro Suzuki created this simple adorable illustration of a person diving into the whirlpool tail of a shiba

9.

an anime-inspired nengajo, this one is from illustrator LAM

10.

Naho Ogawa, created this howling card illustration.

I watched the Indiana - Purdue college basketball game, solo.
A huge rivalry between the Hoosiers & Boilermakers!

A huge family rivalry as well.
With respect for both universities.
Many graduated from Purdue ...
Cousin Bob, an engineer. graduated & has a whole Purdue room in his house,
with everything "Purdue", everything!
His son, Dr. Scott also graduated
from Purdue, but ...
his four sons graduated from Indiana!
Cousin Janice & husband Bill
graduated from Purdue, also engineers!
Cousin Katha & Donna, both teachers, graduated from Butler, but Donna is married to Bob, so also a Purdue fan.
Cousins Nancy, Jack, John, Martha & I
graduated from Ball State University, but we enjoy the rivalry too.

Fun to watch Issac Haas, 7'2", 290 lb. high scorer of the game.

The final score was Purdue 74 - Indiana 67, a great close game.
And even though I watched alone, I knew they were all watching the same thing at the same time, in Indiana.
 I could almost hear them!
Thus, long distance family time.

I went to see Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri.
I went alone at noon & earned a free popcorn!
I had three movies I wanted to see, this one fit my time schedule.

A rough, crude, compelling movie that somehow balances
searing drama with dark comedy
& a few laugh-out-loud moments.
Frances McDormand and the veteran cast
create unforgettable performances.
Written & directed by Martin McDonagh
*Warning: Extreme language & violence.
*I could have linked a trailer,
but was afraid it would offend.

I have been at the Superheroes house since Wednesday.

Superman & WonderWoman are in Palm Springs on business.

So it's just Grandhunk #3 and Granddog, Laker & I.

And it's good!

Grandhunk #3 home from a long day at OLU
& then wrestling ...takes time for Laker,
before tackling 2 hours homework.
After which I watched him play (video game) Fortnite.
The joys of being a Grandma.

Thursday on the way home from Westminster
the clouds were spectacular!

I am always on the lookout for something you might like?

So once off the 22 and 55 freeway,

at every stoplight long enough,

I took cloud portraits for you & me.

Stratus, cumulus, & strato-cumulus, all for you!

With a bow on it!

Thanks for visiting, have a wonderful weekend!
